The work below shows the first completed globes from the past six months of labor. Initially my constraint was that all materials had to be found or dismissed at some level. I scoured second hand stores and street sides for tossed aside treasures so there would be a full redemptive quality about the final pieces. In this newer work, I am still taking dismissed objects and reflecting on their preciousness. I decided that elevating them to a true sense of worth would require more investment in their display. So, I am combining reclaimed bases with custom metal work. Some globes have found objects while others have been left empty for a collaborative effort with the viewer to take place. Think of an object that has somehow been separated from its whole or lost its usefulness: lost tooth, broken china, broken part, lock of hair, etc.
